Grants Finance Manager

Your mission
We’re looking for an experienced nonprofit Grant Finance Manager to assist with the financial management of our projects and the organisation. You’ll work closely with project teams and senior leadership to ensure strong financial oversight, compliance and strategic support that enables our work to have the greatest impact over multiple countries.  

You bring strong financial experience and a practical, solution-focused mindset. You’ll likely have worked as a Finance Manager, Controller, Accountant or in a similar rolein a nonprofit sector, and feel confident managing a range of financial responsibilities. 

You enjoy working with budgets, keeping things on track, and spotting issues before they become problems. You know how to translate financial data into clear, useful information that helps teams make informed decisions. 

You understand the importance of compliance and can be trusted to deliver accurate reports that meet internal and external requirements. You’re also comfortable using ERP systems to stay organised, efficient and keep deadlines.

Your profile
Key Responsibilities:  

Financial management  
  • Develop, monitor, and review the annual organisational budget 
  • Work with project managers to prepare and manage project budgets 
  • Conduct budget variance analysis and recommend corrective actions 
  • Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports 
  • Maintain and optimise the use of financial software (e.g. Exact Online) 
  • Provide financial advice to support project planning and delivery 
  • Support internal and external audits with documentation and analysis 
  • Identify and implement improvements to financial systems and processes 
Compliance and Risk Management 
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, donor requirements and legal regulations 
  • Maintain robust internal control systems 
  • Identify and assess financial risks and contribute to risk mitigation strategies 
Stakeholder Engagement 
  • Serve as the finance point of contact for donors, ensuring timely and accurate reporting 
  • Present financial information to both financial and non-financial stakeholders 
  • Strengthen financial understanding among programme staff and support capacity building 
Required Qualifications and Experience 
  • Qualification in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a finance-related role (e.g. Finance Manager, Controller, Accountant) 
  • Previous work in nonprofit or donor-funded organisations 
  • Proven experience managing organisational and project budgets 
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, compliance and audit processes 
  • Experience in ERP and financial software (Exact Online or similar) 
  • Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly 
  • Right to work in the Netherlands 

 Desirable 
  • Experience managing finances for EU-funded grants 
  • Experience in multi-country and multi-currency financial operations 
  • Track record of strengthening financial controls and systems 
This is a one-year, fixed-term contract with the possibility of extension, and is open to candidates currently residing in the Netherlands.
